Melanie had her first middle school dance, first school dance jitters, first dress-up night. She said she didn't dance with a boy but rather a group of friends. Yay, she's still my little girl. ; )
It was so neat and made things easier for her to have Adaline there, showing her the ropes. The girls used to have little mini-cat fights when they were small and I've always taunted them, reminding them that someday they really WOULD BE the best of friends. Fortunately, SIGH, that day came sooner than I thought. Melanie and Adaline are in 6th and 8th grade and told me one night over dinner that they have a special greeting when they pass in the hall. The greeting changes each morning as they don't want anyone else to catch on to their secret code. I didn't tell them because I didn't want to ruin the moment, but I think they really are finally becoming the greatest of friends. It's times like this that I think I just might be doing something right...
